Animal Health Care & Wound Healing Technology

THE SCIENCE BEHIND SENTRX

In more than 30 animal studies, SentrX animal health care and wound healing products have been consistently shown to promote healing-even in the most difficult-to-treat cases. Why? It comes down to cells.

How SentrX works

When tissue is healthy, its extracellular matrix (ECM) provides support for cells and regulates intercellular communication. When an injury occurs, signals are released from the tissue that stimulate cells to repair the injury. Unfortunately, the process often leads to the formation of scar tissue rather than the appropriate new ECM. SentrX products provide matrices that work with the animal's natural repair system to encourage enhanced production of the appropriate ECM, leading to new healthy tissue.

SentrX technology consists of chemically modified glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), natural components of the ECM, that are crosslinked to form a matrix. Each formulation is specifically designed for a particular tissue in order to provide the optimal matrix for healing of that tissue.

SentrX products crosslink proprietary biopolymers to create matrices for enhanced healing of tissues.

Animal-specific solutions

Unlike many veterinary products that are derived from human treatments, SentrX biomaterials are created specifically for animals. Because of this, SentrX products are fully biocompatible and do not elicit immune stimulation, local or systemic toxicity, or inflammation.

Treatments beyond wound care

In addition, the chemically functionalized polymers in SentrX technology can be crosslinked to a variety of other molecules. Crosslinking between modified GAGs and other ECM proteins can be precisely determined and controlled. Not only does this make SentrX products effective alone, they may be used in conjunction with other treatments to deliver growth factors, drugs, or autologous cells.
